Birds of a Feather Read Together

Birds of a Feather Read Together

January 17, 2025

The Lackawanna County Library System welcomes all patrons to participate in our annual all-ages Winter Reading Challenge, which will run from Monday, February 3 through Friday, February 28. This year’s challenge, “Birds  of a Feather Read Together,” is presented as a part of Lackawanna County’s Shelter for All program and is co-sponsored by Lackawanna County Arts & Culture’s ARTS Engage initiative. Children, teens, and adults can flock to the Library to enjoy the many resources, services, and programs all nine Lackawanna County Libraries offer to the public.

Our Librarians have prepared events, activities, and displays that encourage readers to look to the skies to discover plenty of new stories, online resources, and enriching events during the challenge. Patrons may visit any Library during the challenge for BINGO-style activity log that they can complete through February. Upon returning a completed sheet, individuals can enter into raffle drawings for the chance to win a prize at their home Library.

In the spirit of celebrating the beautiful wildlife in our local community, winter challenge will include many programs and events that highlight how important local birds are to our area. Most Libraries will host programs encouraging all age groups to decorate miniature birdhouses to help provide shelter and security for local populations. In addition, Libraries will host themed story times, book clubs, crafts, and informational presentations throughout the month of February. For more information about these events and schedules of individual Libraries’ programs, please visit the Library System’s events directory.
