With the New Year in full swing, look to the Library to keep to keep on track with your plans and achieving your goals. Whether your New Year’s Resolution is to save money, get healthier, or dedicate more time to your loved ones, your public library can help you reach it. The Lackawanna County Library System offers more than just self-help books to assist you in learning new skills and applying them.

 

Learn Something New

Did you know the Library has a variety of eResources that can help you build skills? We have databases to help you brush up on computer skills, complete genealogical research, or find new employment. There are also plenty of resources for homework help and learning support for kids and teens, including live online tutoring with HelpNow. Save on Bills

Want to crack down on expensive streaming services this year? The Lackawanna County Library System offers several free online platforms for all your digital needs. Our digital collection of eBooks and audiobooks is available through Libby, the library reading app. Log in using your library card and browse the catalog to read on the go from your smart device or laptop. We also offer eBooks, audiobooks, and comics through hoopla digital, a new service to LCLS. hoopla currently allows up to 5 checkouts a month plus special offerings that won’t use up your monthly borrows. hoopla also offers movies, television series, and music albums for streaming. As a final option, you can visit Kanopy, an online streaming services with films, series, and documentaries to enjoy. No matter what digital media you’re looking for, the Library can help you cut down on costly subscriptions. Contact your Library to update your library card information and log into any of these free services.

 

Enjoy Quality Time with Friends & Family

Looking to spend more quality time with your loved ones? Each member library of the Lackawanna County Library System hosts programs for all ages. Children’s librarians present story times regularly as well as other educational events for children to enjoy. Our children’s programming across the county aims to build literacy skills and assist parents in helping their children reach important milestones in all walks of life. For teens, our Libraries hold crafting events, game nights, and various clubs that help them build friendships and foster a sense of civic engagement. Adults, too, can always find something to do at the Library, including book clubs, crafts, lectures and presentations, and support groups.
