September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
September 2, 2024
This month, the Lackawanna County Library System is happy to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month alongside the American Library Association! Your local Library offers so many incredible resources, programs, and opportunities that are all available simply by signing up for a library card.
Libraries today provide much more than just books. We are here to help whether you want to upgrade your skills, grow your knowledge, or connect with your community. Here are just a few benefits that our Libraries offer for free with your library card:
- Want to find a way to pass time productively? Visit our Events Directory to discover what programs your local Library has coming up. With book clubs, story times, game nights, presentations, and classes, there’s always something to do at the Library. Most libraries also have board games, puzzles, video games, and more that you can borrow as a part of Library of Things collections. To browse these items, simply search “Library of Things” in our online catalog.
- Hitting the road or like to read on the go? Our digital collections have thousands of resources you can access from the convenience of your smart device. Visit Libby and browse our online eBook and eAudiobook catalog, log in to Kanopy to stream films, documentaries, and television series, or check out hoopla for access to books, comics, music, movies, and more. All of these online platforms are free with your LCLS library card.
- Need help with research or homework? Your library card provides a selection of informational databases. Whether you want to work on your family’s genealogy or are looking for a new career, we are here to help. Visit our full list of eResources and learn something new thanks to your library card. Please note that some databases can only be accessed at the Library.
- Curious about exploring a new hobby? Many of our Libraries offer enriching craft programs or host social groups who share common interests. Your library card also provides access to Craft & Hobby, an online resource that can help you get started with knitting, woodworking, baking, and a variety of different skills. When you’re ready to make your crafting dreams a reality, why not try a new crafting machine at the Albright Memorial Library’s Makerspace?
You can easily sign up for a Lackawanna County Library System library card online! Once a librarian processes your request, you can enjoy these resources and check out all our Libraries have to offer. We are proud to offer informational, educational, and enriching services that help all our patrons enjoy life to the fullest!
