Juggler Ray Grins to perform at the Lackawanna County Children’s Library

RaySoloPic1Ray Grins began performing at the age of 17 and has had a career spanning more than twenty years. The Comedy and Juggling of Ray Grins combines juggling and circus skills with comedy and audience participation in a way that brings audiences to the edge of their seats and leaves them rolling in the aisles. Ray has delighted people nationally and internationally performing in theaters, theme parks, circuses and on cruise ships. Whether he is performing in Cirque de La Mer in San Diego or with the Long Island Philharmonic Orchestra in New York City, Ray loves what he does and audiences love him! Appropriate for all ages!

3rd Grade Battle of the Books

The Third Grade Battle of the Books 2016 will be held on July 28 at 5PM. The Battle is open to kids going into 3rd grade. Teams of 3 – 5 kids compete with other teams about knowledge of 3 books.

The books this year are:

The Family Under the Bridge by Natalie Savage Carlson

Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindergren

Third Grade Angels by Jerry Spinelli

Deadline to register is June 17! The first meeting will be held on Thursday, June 23 at 5PM. Meetings will take place weekly starting on Thursday, June 30 at 3PM.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Get Ready to “Cruise into Kindergarten” with the North Pocono Public Library!

  • Prepare your children entering  Kindergarten in Fall 2016.
  • Pre-registration is required-space is limited.  Register in library in person, call 570-842-4700×301 or email kpulice@albright.org  or by following the link below!
  • This 6 week program is on Wednesdays at 1 PM beginning July 13 through August 17.
  • Sessions will be 75-90 minutes in length.  A parent is asked to attend.
  • Activities include:   scissor practice, tracing capital letters,  ABCs, numbers,  shapes, daily calendar, taking attendance, classroom rules, worksheets, songs, circle time and play time.

The Lackawanna County Children’s Library was selected for
an exciting new program called the Block Party Project!

When children play with blocks they are learning math, engineering, social skills and so much more!

With this fun new parent/child interactive program, kids will discover the foundation of mathematical and scientific thinking through shapes, learning how blocks can be balanced, observing how they fall
and discovering what fits together. All through playful exploration!
