On behalf of the Friends of the Abington Community Library, thank you for making our recent book sale a success! Whether you donated items, attended the sale and purchased items, or volunteered at the sale, we appreciate all YOU did to make this sale successful! Mark your calendars for the Friends’ Fall Book Sale, Saturday October 5, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. You can support the Friends and the library all year long when you become a Friends’ member. Proceeds from book sales plus annual Friends’ dues have helped the Friends purchase items like Microsoft Surface Pros, toys and furniture in the children’s room, and locking DVD cases, plus sponsor library programs for all ages. Membership forms are available at the library, $10/individual and $15/family. Stop by today and become our new Friend!

Friends’ Spring Book Sale coming soon!

The Friends’ of the Abington Community Library will hold their spring book sale on Saturday March 30 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. A Preview Sale for Friends’ members will be held on Friday March 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. You can become a Friend or renew your membership at the Preview Sale. You won’t want to miss this sale that will feature thousands of adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction books, DVDs, and CDs with prices ranging from $.25 to $2.00. Interested in joining the Friends’s Advisory Board and helping with their fundraising efforts? Stop by the library and give your contact information to a library staff member.

Get ready for a busy weekend with the Abington Community Library! The Friends’ semi-annual book sale will take place at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church on Saturday April 8 from 8:30 to 2:00; be sure to stop by the Teen Leadership Committee’s Bake Sale after perusing our large collection of adult and children’s books, DVDs and talking books. Also at the church, a drug take-back event co-sponsored by the library, the Clarks Summit Police, and the Voluntary Action Center of Northeast PA will run from 11:00 until 2:00. Don’t forget to also stop by the library to visit with representatives participating in the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s Match Day.  Don’t miss this exciting weekend!

Save the date!

The date for the Friends of the Abington Community Library Fall Book Sale has been set! Plan to join us on Saturday October 8 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Thousands of books, DVDs, CDs, and talking books ranging in price from $.25 to $2.00 will be available. Friends members are invited to join us at the preview sale on Friday October 7 from 5:00 pm to 8:00. Not a current Friends member? Visit the Abington Community Library to join or renew your Friends membership today. Memberships are paid for on a calendar year basis, and are $10 per individual or $15 per family.

25 Books for Christmas at Abington Community Library

25 Books of ChristmasStaff at Abington Community Library stumbled upon a great idea on Facebook that we’re excited to pass along to you.

Start a new tradition in your family this year. Wrap up 25 children’s books (they don’t have to be new). Put them under the Christmas tree with a special blanket next to them. Before bed each evening, let your child choose one book to open and read together … until Christmas.

Good news, Friends of the Abington Community Library created the Book Nook at the library. Staff is always adding new titles. Stop by the library today to create your new family tradition.

Mini Book Sale Today Until 6:30 PM

Stop by for some ‘summer reads’. We have BRAND NEW paperbacks and hard covers; only $0.50 and $1.00. Visit our Book Nook for other bargains. These items are perfect for summer travel – leave them behind with no worries!

Calling All Bakers! Book and Bake Sale!

Are your brownies the best? Do you make the crunchiest cookies or craziest cake pops?  Donate baked goods to our Spring Bake and Children’s Book Sale, Friday May 15th and Saturday May 16th from 9-5. The bake sale will support the “Every Hero Has a Story!” Summer Reading Club. All proceeds will be used for raffle prizes and baskets for the children.
