Have fun in the free build time or put your Lego skills to the test in our design challenges. Also features Strawbees, a fantastic new prototyping toy for makers of all ages. With Strawbees, kids can build huge mechanical objects from standard straws and cardboard!

Kids Create: Writing Funshop @ Abington Community Library

Children will discover their unique voices and write with the help of books, games, and hands-on activities taught by two experienced facilitators. Each week during a 4-week session, children will participate in an inspiring warm-up activity, freewriting, sharing, and editing. Runs weekly from February 19 until March 12. For Grades 3-4. Please register. Facilitated by Angela Schobel: recently retired elementary school teacher and parent and Anne Stopper: journalist, published author and parent.

Join us for a Lincoln Center Local Free Screening of the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra.

 

This is a pre-recorded screening of the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra which was performed at the Damrosch Park Bandshell on July 12, 2012.

For over 25 years, the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra has continued to feed the fire of the Big Band Era. These guardians of Harlem’s musical traditions turn to the music of Basie, Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Illinois Jacquet.

Audience: Adults

Registration is required.

Hosted in the Community Room, located in the basement of the Children’s Library.
