The Abington Community Library is very pleased to announce the support of Weis Markets, INC, as part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. As a company that operates stores throughout the Commonwealth, they are committed to giving back to the communities they serve with generous donations such as this one. The money awarded to the Library by Weis Markets, INC will be used for this year’s annual BATTLE OF THE BOOKS, to be held in August. Participating students in grades 4th through 12th in the Abingtons will receive personal copies of the books used in the BATTLE. Preparing for the BATTLE provides children with an opportunity to think critically, socialize at the Library, make new friends, and most importantly, prevents the ‘summer slide’ that occurs when children do not read during their school break.

As an Educational Improvement Organization, the Abington Community Library is fortunate to be attached to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) of the State of Pennsylvania. This program invites businesses, such as Weis Markets, INC, to donate to this Library as a benefit to themselves as well as to the Library. The commitment can be for one year or two, and the application process is simple; a one-page application is all that is required. If your company or business pays corporate taxes to the state of Pennsylvania, please consider participating in this program to give a voice to the allocation of your monies.
