The TV series, “Orange is the New Black,” is, as one always hears, “Not as good as the book.” The series has gone off on a lot of tangents because it is, after all, made for TV. One Tuesday, July 19 at 7 PM you will get to hear the ‘real story,’ direct from Piper Kerman at the Scranton Cultural Center. Looking ahead, know that there are generous people in Lackawanna County who have taken the plight of the incarcerated to heart and are trying to make a difference in their lives for re-introducation to society. During the month of June you can help by bringing a donation at the Abington Community Library from this specfic list of requested items: individually wrapped candy, socks, toothpaste, soap, and VO5 shampoo WITHOUT conditioner, and Suave shampoo. There are strict rules governing what is permitted in the prison so please donate items only from this list. See you on July 19.
