Pioneer Nights Schedule

August 17th through 20th

The Carbondale Public Library will be open its normal business hours during Pioneer Nights this year (Wednesday & Thursday 10 – 7 and Friday & Saturday 10 -5.)  More information about this year’s Pioneer Nights schedule can be found on their Facebook page: https://fb.me/e/2EeWWQHYi.

Here are programs happening at the library during Pioneer Nights:

Back to School Fair
Wednesday, August 17th at 2pm

Stop by and meet with local organizations to help you get ready to head back to school this Fall.  There will be backpack giveaways, uniform swaps, back to school vaccines, PTA sign-ups, school bus safety presentations, library card sign-ups, face painting, games, and activities.

Meet Mary Todd Lincoln

Friday, August 19th at 2pm

Learn about the life of Mary Todd Lincoln during her time at the White House, after her husband’s assassination, her insanity conviction, and her retrial – defense of her sanity.  Presented by oral interpreter, Meg Geffken.

Pirate Storytime

Saturday, August 20th at 12pm

Ahoy, Matey!  Hop on board for a special pirate-themed storytime!  Thaarr be stories, crafts, activities and more!  Come dressed as a pirate (not required).  Registration is appreciated.

(Pirates can participate in the Pioneer Parade with us!)

Carbondale: Then & Now Walking Tour

Wednesday through Saturday

View historic images of Carbondale posted at the locations they were taken to see what the city looked like “then and now.”  A brief description of each location will be included with the photographs.  This is a self-guided walking tour.  Maps will be available at the Carbondale Public Library.
