Destination Freedom: The Underground Railroad Walking Tour is a program of the Waverly Community House’s Comm Classroom and Archive Program. The Lackawanna Heritage Valley National State and Heritage Area has supported this project in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the National Park Service.

This tour will be given by EJ Murphy, local Civil War historian and social studies teacher at the Howard Gardner Multiple Intelligence Charter School in Scranton.

*This tour will meet in the lobby of the Waverly Community House at 12:50 PM.   Please be prompt! The last portion of the tour (Hickory Grove) will need to be driven to. Limited van seating is available, but participants should plan on providing their own transportation. Please keep this in mind when planning your day.

Registration is MANDATORY for this event.
