December’s Classic Movie Night will feature the 1966 classic courtroom drama/tearjerker Madame X, starring Lana Turner.  It will screen Wednesday, December 21st at 6 PM in the Henkelman Room.  The screening is free with your library card.

In one of her last big-screen roles, Lana Turner stars as Holly Parker, a woman married to a wealthy socialite/rising political star (John Forsythe).  Holly’s world is compromised by the accidental death of a man who had been romantically pursuing her, and is forced by her mother-in-law (Constance Bennett, in her final film role) to assume a new identity to save the reputation of her husband and infant son. She wanders the world, trying to forget her heartbreak with the aid of alcohol and unsavory men, eventually returning to the city of her downfall.

Madame X is not rated and has a running time of 1 hr., 40 min.
