Event Details
Scranton Public Library will be hosting a free screening of the 2022 documentary Scranton’s Championship Season on Wednesday, March 8th at 6 PM in the Henkelman Room. There is free on-street parking after 5 PM.
Scranton’s Championship Season is a documentary celebrating the 40th anniversary of the filming and release of That Championship Season, Jason Miller’s 1982 film of his Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name. Miller’s film featured an all-star cast that included Bruce Dern, Stacy Keach, Robert Mitchum, Martin Sheen and Paul Sorvino.
Created by local producer Robert Savakinus in collaboration with filmmaker Luz Cabrales of Scranton Films, the documentary Scranton’s Championship Season contains interviews with Scranton residents who were part of the film about their time on set, as well as community members talking about the experience of living in the city when the film was made. It also takes a look back at the economic development and impact the film had on Scranton.
Registration is required for the screening, and seating in limited.
Register online at www.albright.org or by calling 570-348-3000.
