Don’t Forget The Region’s Neediest

December Library Collection

While you’re out buying presents for your family and friends, how about picking up something for people who have little. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Friends of the Poor are asking for donations of pajamas, nightgowns, robes and slippers in infant to adult sizes.

Founded in 1986 by Sister Adrian Barrett, Friends of the Poor seeks to ease the burden and improve quality of life for people in low-to-moderate-income communities.  It is sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Make your donation of new, unused sleepwear at any Lackawanna County Library.

The Perfect Accessory

Everything’s Free @ the Library

If you’re planning on giving someone a mobile device for Christmas this year, make sure that they get a library card, too. It’s the perfect accessory. That’s because a library card provides access to eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more.

The best thing about a library card is that it’s free; and so is everything you get with it. You can have your gift recipient sign up for one at any Lackawanna County library or online here.
