Second Sunday with Friends: Reading with Reptiles from Clyde Peelings Reptiland

Enter the fascinating world of Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland with this interactive story time featuring LIVE rainforest animals! Sponsored by the Friends of the Scranton Public Library.

Nowhere on earth can a greater diversity of life forms be found than in the tropical rainforests that straddle the equator. Plants and animals are disappearing at an alarming rate as these forests are slashed and burned. This program is a celebration of rainforest diversity. Through the use of an assortment of live animals representing habitats from the canopy to the forest floor, and a poison-dart blowpipe demonstration, audiences are introduced to the excitement of jungle life.

Second Sunday with Friends presents Sharks Rock! The Magic of Sharks Part II! with Steve Woyce.

Sharks Rock! is a shark-themed magic show that is both entertaining and educational. The audience will help Magician Steve Woyce make the magic happen as they learn mazing shark facts in this high energy comedy magic show. Volunteers will help build and shark by magic, play “Fish or Fin”, a magical game where the magician always loses. If you enjoyed Steve’s show last year, come see Sharks Rock! Magic of Sharks II!

Second Sunday with Friends presents Djembe, African Drum Circle. Sponsored through the generosity of the Friends of the Scranton Public  Library.

You’ll be moving and dancing to the beat! with Learn Listen Play, a mobile education program.

Learn about African drumming and play an authentic African djembe!
During the session, children will play hand drums, sing songs, and end the session with a traditional African dance circle. For active families!
